World?s Most Dangerous Animal

Posted on 08. Apr, 2012 by Emily in General

World?s Most Dangerous Animal -?Sure, intelligence and technology may have put humans at the top of the food chain, but they?re not the only animals with reputations of being some of the most dangerous creatures in the world. In fact, the animal responsible for the most human deaths isn?t even man himself. Instead, the title goes to a much tinier creature.

Looking at some of the deadliest animals on Earth can make any human a little nervous. Sure, some of them may live in extreme climates far far away, but that?s not always the case. We may think that civilization has protected us from wild foe, but the numbers of animal caused fatalities is shocking.

Let?s take a look at some of the animals responsible for the most human deaths per year.

Elephants?- Forget Dumbo, Elephants are said to kill up to 600 people a year. These large animals can get upset and charge any human they find threatening, stomping them to death or using their tusks.

Crocodiles?- These ancient animals are located all over the world and kill up to 2,000 people a year. Sneaky predators that are just below the surface until the right moment?

Scorpions?- Small but lethal, scorpions are responsible for the deaths of up to 5,000 people a year. The venom they carry can cause shortness of breath, unconsciousness and death for some.

Snakes?- Most people don?t like snakes? and for good reason. These slithery animals cause up to 100,000 human deaths per year. Whether it be by venom or strangulation, snakes have a way of taking down people in interests of lunch.

#1 Mosquitoes?- At the end of the day mosquitoes are the deadliest creatures on Earth. Well, for humans anyway. They kill 2 to 3 million people a year through the spread of disease? more specifically malaria. Annoying and deadly? the worst combination.

We often forget that nature can be as powerful as people. Thousands of years of civilization has brought many advancements, but it hasn?t made us much less vulnerable to the wild elements. There may be ways to deal with malaria, and guns can keep us more protected from each other, but the instinct and sheer force of a crocodile or elephant will always be greater than our own natural strength.

It?s important to be careful when in environments with any of the above animals. It?s also important to try to remain aware and respectful of the natural world. It?s too easy to get caught up in technology and the dilemmas of human life and forget that we are sharing a planet with millions of other plant and animal species.

What are some more dangerous animals I left off the list?
